Mother's visit: Almere

“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.”

Dalai Lama XIV

On my mother's first visit to the Netherlands, in 2008, we took her to Amsterdam, The Hague, Delft, Zaanse Schans and Marken, and to Cologne in Germany. On her second visit, in 2009, we went to Gouda in the Netherlands, Aachen in Germany and Bruge and Gent in Belgium. This year we stayed more time in Almere, visiting the city's beautiful places in the weekends and doing fun shopping during the week.

Mommy was very well impressed with how much easier it is to walk and shop in Almere. She found the sidewalks very pleasant to walk on, the bus easy to step in, and loved the fact that the stores are located in the city center and not in huge shopping centers in the outskirts.

Twice a week, walking in baby steps, holding my arm, she took the bus and went to a store. At Van Haren, she bought shoes, sandals and sneakers from "Medicus" to help her walk easily. At C&A she bought " We love Bio-Cotton" colorful T-shirts, very comfortable to dress and wear. At Yves Rocher she bought several Anti - Fatigue Iced Gel's for her feet (there are no Yves Rocher stores in Portugal) and at Dio store Tiger Balm for the pain in her neck and shoulders. We also went to other stores like Ethos and Blokker, Primark and Tiger.

Mommy also enjoyed my relaxation chair, and finally she bought one for herself when she arrived in Portugal.

I loved these days with her - to have the chance to help her dress, to undress and have a shower, to do some shopping together, watching TV together, chit - chat. Very, very nice! We didn't talk very much about the economical crisis or the unemployment in Portugal. We simply enjoyed each other's company, sharing simple pleasures and tender moments. A wise choice, I think...;-)

These are the photos taken in Almere. I hope you enjoy them!
Stay well!! :-)

I leave you with the final images of the traditional 5 May Liberation Day Concert in the Amstel River, in Amsterdam. We watched it on TV, but if you intend to visit the Netherlands in this period, don't miss it. It's a beautiful show of classical and jazz music, dance and pretty visual effects. Embrace the moment and enjoy! Mother loved it.

We'll meet again, Mommy! ;-)

APS, adoro essas duas cidades. A Catedral, o tesouro de Carlos Magno, as pastelarias, o requinte, o charme, tudo ali me delicia.

Verdade, Ana.
